Work Experience Timeline

Rachel Pearl is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) whose work is grounded in the belief that every person carries a unique story worthy of understanding, compassion, and respect. Drawing from a diverse professional background in the arts, photography, marketing, and community engagement, Rachel brings creativity, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for human experience into the therapy room.

Rachel's therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from narrative therapy, expressive arts therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and existential theory. She believes clients are the experts in their own lives and works collaboratively to help them discover their strengths, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change. Her goal is to provide a culturally responsive and affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Before becoming a therapist, Rachel spent more than two decades working in the arts as a production director, communications professional, marketer, photographer, and creative consultant. Throughout these roles, she was consistently drawn to the stories people tell about themselves and the ways creativity can foster connection, resilience, and healing. Her background in photography further cultivated her ability to slow down, observe with curiosity, and appreciate the unique perspectives that shape each person's experience.

Rachel's professional and personal journey has included living and working internationally, including time in Prague and Johannesburg, and collaborations with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. These experiences deepened her commitment to cultural humility and continue to inform her work with clients from a wide range of identities, communities, and life experiences.

Whether through conversation, creative expression, or evidence-based therapeutic techniques, Rachel is passionate about helping clients reconnect with their strengths, develop self-compassion, and move toward lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling.

Rachel lives on a small farm just outside Washington, D.C., with her husband, sculptor Salvatore Pirrone, and their cat, Frank.
